Introduced into the Legislative Assembly, Melbourne, February 1863 by Mr Gavan Duffy, Mr Attorney General and Mr Wood. See also items 2/1/8 - 2/1/11. This amendment bill was further amended and added to in consequence of a decision of the Supreme Court in Queen versus Curtis, concerning assessment of rent on holdings. The Bill was not read for the second time until 9 June, when it created much opposition, resulting in the downfall of the ministry on 19 June.
