In 1986 the company changed its name to Amcor Ltd. The company grew rapidly in the 1980s by acquiring Containers Packaging and James Hardie Containers (whose name was changed to APM Packaging). Further expansion in the 1990s saw the company acquire business in the UK and New Zealand with expansion into the USA and China. Other subsidiaries include the Canadian plastics manufacturer Twinpak Inc, Leigh Mardon Pty Ltd and John Sands group.
