Archives and Special Collections has significant holdings of Indigenous Cultural Heritage and Indigenous records collected by the University over many decades. We recognise that archival practice has not adequately served the inalienable rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s in and to this cultural heritage. Our Statement of Intent articulates our commitment to work with cultural humility and heart to improve discoverability through collaboration.

The University of Melbourne Archives (UMA) is one of Australia’s largest research archives, with a collection of over 23km of records. We have been collecting the records of Victoria's history since 1960, with a focus on university, business, labour, political, community and cultural activities. The collections we hold are available for research to all through digitised material in this catalogue and in our reading room at the University of Melbourne's Parkville campus
