Authoritytgm012399Scope NoteAlbumen photographic prints adhered to a concave piece of glass and sanded from the back to remove the paper layer from the emulsion. A layer of oil is applied to render the emulsion translucent. Then, detailed color is applied to the emulsion on the back of the glass and allowed to dry. Next, a second layer of curved glass is placed behind the emulsion and painted with broad fields of color. A layer of white material is then applied behind it and finally the layers are bound together. The process was used from the 1880s through 1910s.
