The letter had been pinned to the front end page of the 1887 Consolidation of the Victorian Statutes and came to Archives from the State Law Offices in 1985. The letter was filed with correspondence about it (UMA administrative file for State Law Offices, box 175). The nature of the error in the statutes is not known.
