Three men stand at the front of the aircraft and another on it. ‘Palm’ is painted on the fuselage and ‘Melbourne Air Services’ and ‘E.W. Brown Motors Pty. Ltd., Sole importers of Palm Motor Spares, 343 Swanston St, Melbourne’ is painted on the aircraft fins. This aircraft is a Maurice Farman Shorhorn made in England in 1916. It was used by the Australian Flying Corps (forerunner of the RAAF) Central Flying School at Point Cook, Victoria, during WW1.
Comments: This aircraft probably became G-AUCW on the Australian aircraft register and is likely to be the one on permanent display at the RAAF Museum at Point Cook [see "Flightpath" Vol 21-No 2, November 2009, pages 32-33 (Yaffa Publishing Group Australia)].Access StatusOpen for public accessRequest TypeRequest itemUnit1988.0137 Unit 0057Conditions of Use and ReproductionThis image is provided for research purposes and must not be reproduced without prior permission of University of Melbourne Archives.
