The family moved to Melbourne in the late 1880s, where one son became the proprietor of the trade journal 'The Australasian Coachbuilder and Saddler'. The collection consists of family photographs and photographs used to illustrate 'The Australasian Coachbuilder and Saddler'. This photo shows a view of two adult males seated in a motor buggy outside the Shady Creek Hotel. Written on the photo mounting: A motor buggy. Photo taken near Melbourne. Captain Tarrant driving (Allied Motors)." Pencilled on verso: Motor buggy was first introduced about 1906. Its description is in CB (Coach Builder) for March 1907, page 292. Almost certainly 1908, practically built by Tarrants. Motor buggies had a very short run - about 3 years and they had disappeared. Right enough at low (?) speed, but beyond that, soon out of action."
