The family moved to Melbourne in the late 1880s, where one son became the proprietor of the trade journal 'The Australasian Coachbuilder and Saddler'. The collection consists of family photographs and photographs used to illustrate 'The Australasian Coachbuilder and Saddler'. This photograph shows the facade of 247-253 Franklin St, West Melbourne, which was the premises of Ewing Brothers Carriage Builders. Two men stand with carriages outside the building, it is unknown whether they are the Ewing brothers. The sign on the front of the building says "By appointment to His Excellency the Governor".
