Accession[1965.0017] Papers of Joseph Bishop and familyPart of Item[Beechworth postcard album]Position in Sequencepage 7IdentifierUMA-ITE-1965001700237Extentnot specifiedScope and ContentThis photo shows the main path running through the snow-covered gardens at what is probably Oven's Benevolent Asylum in Beechworth. This card was sent to Louise in July 1908. Sender's comments include: "This is another of my snowscenes. We are quite glad to see the sun, it has been nice for a day. The grass is looking quite green but we are later than you with wattle bloom, it is only budding. .. There is a lot of influenza about here just now. .. I suppose you know Beechworth tries to keep up with the times if possible. 'Criticus' in the Ovens Murray (newspaper?) is entering a protest against building such a grand building on the Buffalo as he thinks none but the wealthy will be able to pay the tariff." Inscription: Lengthy ink inscription on verso. Addressed to Miss Bishop, Baarmutha, Bambra Rd, Caulfield. Postmark and postage stamp on verso. The front of the card says 'Main path asylum garden'.Access StatusOpen for public accessRequest TypeRequest itemCopyright StatusPublic domainConditions of Use and ReproductionThis item is out of copyright.
