Mundey (Mundy) has been a unionist, environmental activist and Communist Party member. In the 1960s he fought for safety reforms on building sites and helped introduce union activism for wider social issues. The Communist Party of Australia was founded in Sydney in 1920 by a group of Australian Socialists who were inspired by the Russian revolution. It dissolved in 1991.
