Ted Bull was employed on the waterfront and subsequently joined the Waterside Workers' Federation [WWF]. He was elected Secretary of the Melbourne branch of the WWF in 1967, holding this position for twelve years. The Communist Party of Australia was founded in Sydney in 1920 by a group of Australian Socialists who were inspired by the Russian revolution.
