This came about in response to the newspaper’s perceived ongoing criticism of maritime unions. Protesters invaded the building disrupting production and threatening newsprint supply. An agreement was quickly reached with management permitting the evening’s edition to be printed and distributed. The Communist Party of Australia was founded in Sydney in 1920 by a group of Australian Socialists who were inspired by the Russian revolution. It dissolved in 1991.
