This demonstration was against Justice Foster, who had brought down an award attacking seamen's conditions. Reg Mikkelsen is second from left, Charlie Smith third from left, Bill Dean is in the centre foreground, Bob Roest holds "Restore" sign and Ernie Benk is on the extreme right. Justice Alfred William Foster was a Senior Deputy President of the Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Commission. The Communist Party of Australia was founded in Sydney in 1920 by a group of Australian Socialists who were inspired by the Russian revolution. It dissolved in 1991.
