Only two Comet 111s were constructed and this one was flown on a round-the-world promotional tour. It was retired in 1973.The Comet 1 was the first aircraft in the world to provide international passenger jet services. It was withdrawn from service following several disastrous mid-air structural failures and eventually replaced with Comet 111 and Comet 4, which hadlimited commercial success.
