Contains: 1 black photo album (ring binder and slipcase, not original) 45.2cm x 38.2cm x 7.6cm. Enclosed in album are 45 black and white gelatin silver photographs, 33.5 x 23cm < 33.5cm x 26.5cm. Original album included 12 additional photographs, however these were mounted post accession and are housed separately due to preservation requirements 2014.0054.00535. Removed photographs have been replaced with reproductions. Title page includes the inscription: "From the editors and photographer of LIFE". The album includes two sets of photographs. The first half of the album was photographed in the United States of America by photojournalist Harry Benson. These include images of: Germaine Greer at an airport having just arrived in the USA; Greer walking within 'Vietnam War Out Now' rally on the National Mall, Washington, D.C., 24 APR 1971; Greer on the streets of New York City, and Greer entertaining friends and admirers at New York's Chelsea Hotel. The next series in the album was taken earlier in England by photojournalist Terry Spencer. These images show Greer sitting on a paisley couch, Greer tutoring students at the University of Warwick, and Greer collecting wood. The final page of the album contains a reproduction of a photo collage. It is likely that this photograph would not have been included in the original gift from LIFE magazine, however was housed in the back of the album upon accession by UMA.
