However, use of the Red Cross emblem (a red cross on a white background) is protected by the Geneva Conventions Act 1957. Requests for reproduction can be responded to in the normal manner. The obligation concerns the use which researchers subsequently make of the emblem. However, if publishing, researchers need to obtain permission from the Red Cross to use any reproduction which includes the emblem.
