This poster with its 'flower power' iconography was designed and published in 1972-1973 to attract a new generation of younger blood donors. Blood component therapy created an increased demand on the Blood Banks. The ‘donormobile’ bus reflected a new approach by the Red Cross Blood Service to donor recruitment. Moving away from previous staid campaigns this new marketing approach sought to recruit 10,000 new blood donors through a series of colourful posters.
