Recording took place at the BBC Broadcast House in April 1997. Recording is Greer reading for each episode of the series. Episode 1: "What is Culture?" This episode introduces the word culture and its meaning and usage in society. Episode 2: "What are the Arts?" Greer discusses the differences between art and craft and how art has evolved from the traditional arts of painting, sculpture, engraving and architecture. Greer also discusses the public funding of the arts and questions art education and the relevance of art to the general public. Episode 3 "Firing the Western Canon". Greer discusses Harold Blooms list of canonical writers and question how writers become canonised and why. Episode 4: "Books Versus Texts". Greer discusses the history of text, books, printing, mass production, and the introduction of multimedia learning. Episode 5: "The Ubiquity of Culture". In this episode Greer argues against distinctions between high and low culture. Greer then re-reads the first section from "What is Culture". Greer then records a summary of the program, possibly used for promotion.
