A canvas town, and the post office business premises were conducted in a tent. :later as business premises were built at the present site, the postal arrangements were taken over by Levi Brothers in High Street. (See print No.30.) The first post office building was manned by one person, that was in 1857. The present P.O. is in keeping with the other buildings in the Civic Square, and has a tower with a striking clock.
