The factory was located on the banks of the Maribyrnong River at Footscray, Melbourne and was opened in 1914. The company was the only manufacturing firm in Australia that exclusively dealt with maize products. It expanded dramatically during the First World War due to the growing demand for glucose, starch and cornflour. Products included 'Dandy' starch and 'Kream' cornflour. Maize Products Pty Ltd was taken over by Allied Mills Ltd in 1965. In 1982 the firm's massive, five-storey, red-brick factory burnt down and in 1986 Allied Mills merged with the Goodman Group Ltd (New Zealand) to form Goodman Fielder Ltd.
