The ASC&J and the Society of Progressive Carpenters and Joiners merged during WW1. The union was deregistered in 1948-49 and re-registered as the Building Workers' Industrial Union in the 1950's. It went on to amalgamate into the Federation of Industrial, Manufacturing and Engineering Employees (FIMEE) in 1992, and then into the Australian Workers Union as its Building, Construction and Joinery Branch in circa 1996.
