The original processing plant at Mooroopna was erected by Swallow and Ariell where fruit was pulped and dried. Local growers got together in 1921 and issued a prospectus. The purpose of the new company was to purchase and carry on the business established by Swallow & Ariell. The newly formed company had a chequered career for several decades. Depression years saw a legacy of accumulated losses. From 1934 to 1946 there was a slow improvement in Ardmona's financial position. During the war, in common with many industries it supplied the forces with canned fruits and vegetables. After the war Ardmona slowly prospered despite labour shortages and disputes.
