Arthur was born in 1925 and educated at Melbourne University studying forestry shortly after the completion of his war time service. In 1962 he joined the newly formed National Parks Authority, a small, but dynamic group that implemented numerous policies including the removal of non-native flora and fire management. Progressive in spirit and deeply concerned with the environment, Arthur appeared in a series of articles, 'The Earth and Trevor Arthur', published by The Age, which focused on waste minimization and pollution. In 1974 Arthur took on management of Melbourne's parks as part of Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works, again introducing a range of long lasting polices. Retiring in 1986, he nonetheless remained active as a volunteer being made a life member of the National Trust in 2009 in recognition of over forty years of voluntary service.Search records of this agent
