In 1866 it changed its name to The Austral- asian Insurance Company. The business was acquired by the Australian Alliance Insurance Company in 1872 but continued to trade under its own name until 1888 when its business operations were absorbed by Alliance. Shareholders agreed to dissolve the company at a special general meeting held 7 Aug 1911.
