Agent TypeOrganisationActivities & OccupationsTrade UnionsHistoryThe AFULE Victorian Division is the oldest continuous railway union in the world, having formed as the Locomotive Engine Drivers' Association in 1861. It came to represent firemen in 1872 and cleaners in 1902, when it became known as the Victorian Locomotive Engine Drivers, Firemens and Cleaners Association. It became the Victorian Division of the AFULE in 1920 when all state locomotive unions federated. In 1993 it amalgamated with the Australian Railways Union, the National Union of Rail Workers of Australia and the Australian Tramway and Motor Omnibus Employees Association to form the National Rail Tram & Bus Industry Union of Australia.
