Blackburn was a Labor member of both the Victorian (1914-33) and Federal (1934-43) Parliaments. The firm has specialised in trade union and workers' compensation cases and has become the largest industrial law practice in Australia. In 1999 it merged with the Sydney firm of Peter Cashman to become Maurice Blackburn Cashman.
