From 1926 after the amalgamation of a number of small sectional unions, it was known as the Amalgamated Postal Workers Union, covering postmen, sorters and linesmen. The present name was adopted in 1974 and later incorporated telegraphists. In 1992 after a series of further amalgamations, including the Australian Postmasters Association, the Australian Telecommunications Employees Association/Australian Telephone and Phonogram Operators Association and the Postal Supervisory Officers Association to form the Communication Workers' Union - Postal and Telecommunications Branch.Search records of this agent
