The union became known as the Commonwealth Public Service Association (Fourth Division Officers) in 1967 and later in 1974 called the Aust. Public Service Association (Fourth Division Officers). From 1989, the union has undergone a series of amalgamations with other public service unions i.e. clerical, ABC Broadcasting staff and officers. It became the Australian Public Sector and Broadcasting Union Australian Government Employment.
