During that time he was Assistant Secretary and then Secretary of the Victorian Branch of the Union, and President and General Secretary of the Federal Council. During this time he ws also President and Secretary of the High Council of Commonwealth Public Service Organisations. In 1954 he left the Union to take up a position as a Commissioner with the Arbitration Commission. The Australian Telecommunications Employees' Association was known as the Australian Postal Electricians Union from 1912, and then as the Postal Telecommunications Technicians' Association from 1943 to 1976 ...
