Agent TypeOrganisationActivities & OccupationsCommunity organisationsHistoryThe Association was formed in 1956 by Charles Lowe and R.G. Casey with the aim to promote friendship between Australians and the people of Asia and to develop knowledge and greater understanding between the regions. The Association has always maintained a non- sectarian and non-political position. The aims were achieved by contacts cultivated by a range of social and diplomatic functions, educational activities and hospitality schemes, the Women's Group, Host- Family Scheme and the Junior Group. The Association's profile has been heightened by its first distinguished Presidents, Sir Charles Lowe and Sir Edward "Weary" Dunlop. The Geelong Branch folded in the late 1980s.
