It was to report, in the first instance to the Arts Standing Committee on Planning. It also reported to the faculty on the following issues which are recorded in the minutes: Consideration of individual scholarship applications, research funding, regulations regarding theses, regulations for postgraduate degrees, research profiles of staff and students within the faculty, grants and grants administration, training and education of research workers, extension of submission deadlines for postgraduate degrees, review of research facilities and improvement of research and research training.
