IdentifierUMA-SR-000001940Extent2 volumesScope and ContentThe Adhoc Committee on Marine Sciences is first documented meeting in December 1974.Early meeting focus on the establishemnt of the Victorian Institute of Marine Sciences, and the need for a Faculty response to an offer of participation in the design of a research vessel under development with CSIRO. Further meetings focus also on curriculum developments, establishment of academic standards and budget allocations. As the work of the committee became broader throughout 1975, it began to focus on the establishment of a standing Committee on Marine Sciences, to have the status of sub-committee of the Faculty Executive Committee. This latter committee commenced at the beginning of 1976, superceding the work of the adhoc committee.The first meeting was conducted on 29th January 1976.
