Ralph McKay Ltd was incorporated in Victoria 30 June 1950. The company established a promotion and distribution centre in Hong Kong and gained considerable growth through a number of acquisitions. It had an operation in Canada and in January 1985 acquired the Empire Plow Company Inc of Cleveland, USA to make it a "market leader in the 'tillage components sector of the North American farm machinery market'". It changed its name from McKay Australia Ltd to Ralph McKay Ltd on 05 January 1989. In December 1990 the company appointed a Receiver/Manager. Stock Exchange trading was suspended on 19 December 1990 and the company was delisted 22 December 1992 by order of the Australian Stock Exchange.
