Agent TypeOrganisationActivities & OccupationsLawyersHistoryThe origins of the firm can be traced back to the 1850s when John Ross and John Clarke were in partnership as attorneys, solicitors and proctors in Melbourne until Ross's retirement in 1857. In 1861 Edward Murphy acquired the practice and entered into partnership with Robert William Nutt in 1865. A new partnership was formed in 1870 between Nutt, Isaac Seddon and Arthur Blake until Nutt left Australia several years later. In 1874 Blake and William Riggall entered into partnership. While strong in general practice, the firm has been notable for representing the interests of Victorian graziers and businessmen, including the management of pastoral investments in Queensland and the Riverina.Search records of this agent
