Gillespie and working at a series of architectural firms when he established his own practice in the late 1940s. In 1954, the firm was registered as A.E. Bridge and Associates until 1960 when Arnold Bridge and Anthony Hayden became partners. The architectural practice was latterly known as Bridge, Hayden and Associates.
