In 1932 Michael Mulqueen bought the Melbourne business of Charles P. Frilay. Both Frilay and Mulqueen served a predominantley Catholic clientele. The Melbourne business was run as. a branch of Bendigo until the death of Michael's son Jack when the business was split; Michael's descendants retained the Bendigo business (est 1853) while his brother's descendants retained the melbourne business. There is now no connection between the two businesses.
