In 1952 the company appointed its Managing Director J McGuire who steered the company through its first 27 years of expansion and growth. In 1963 the company officially changed its name to Murray Goulburn Co-operative Co Ltd
In the early 1950s with increased mechanization of dairy production - dairy companies recognised the economic benefits of amalgamation of resources.
In 1957 the company amalgamated with Nathalia company, followed by Kyabram in 1961, Berriquin and Rochester in 1963, Tandarook in 1966 and then Grasmere Butter Company,, Western Meadow Gold Dairy Company, Coleraine, Penshurst, Portland (Western District), Mirboo (Gippsland) and Swan Hill Co-operative, Horsham Butter Factory and Eskdale Butter Factory in the late 1960s. Mergers with other dairy co-operatives continued through the early 1970s making Murray Goulburn Co-operative Co Ltd the biggest producer and manufacturer of dairy products in Victoria.
