Burston assisted in selecting the Fellows who were to do undergraduate work in Britain. In 1947, following discussions between J.D.G. Medley, Vice- Chancellor, and his cousin, the Hon. Geoffrey Gibbs, a trustee of the Fondation, Medley was invited to convene and preside over an Australian Committee, which first met on 24 April 1948. The Committee was soon reconstituted as a small Policy Committee with selection committees for awards in medicine, science and humanities. Its first meeting was on 4 Aug. 1950, from which date this book begins.
