He was later appointed House Surgeon at Melbourne Hospital and Surgeon Superintendant at Launceston General Hospital in 1889. After his resignation in 1891 he remained in Launceston and built a private practice. Pardey retired in 1931 and died in 1944. He was the uncle of Sir Clive Fitts.
