The house once occupied by James Cook's parents was removed from Great Ayton, Yorkshire England, and re-erected in Melbourne's Fitzroy gardens. The house was purchased in 1934 by Russell Grimwade then dismantled and moved stone by stone and re-constructed as a gift to celebrate the State of Victoria's Centenary Year.
