She became a student teacher in 1920 and trained at the Melbourne Teachers' College in 1924. She taught in rural schools and in 1936 became a relieving teacher. In 1943 she married William Spry, also a primary teacher, but returned to teaching in the early 1950's, retiring in 1968. She died in 1996.
