This is the 8 column variety, with a modification to the standard pinwheel variety of calculating devices in that the design uses a sliding gear segment which extends to advance the register, rather than functioning with individual pins on the rotor. This class of machine was significantly quieter and twice as fast as most of its other lever-set pinwheel varieties.
