Accession[2013.0112] Business machines, office equipment and ephemera of the National Mutual Life Association of AustralasiaIdentifierUMA-ITE-2013011200203Scope and ContentThis printing block on zinc metal is a reproduction of an illuminated address that was presented by the staff of Melbourne Head Office of National Mutual, to John Montgomery Templeton, the acknowledged founder of NMLA, upon his resignation. It reads: "We the members of the Head Office Staff of the Association cannot allow the occasion to pass without tendering you an expression of our esteem". In later years, Templeton returned, first as Director, then Chairman, and finally as Managing Director. The block is a blend of photoengraving and stereotype printing techniques, and features photographs of the addressers around an oval shaped statement. This block is the first in a series of two, and was used in conjunction with object reference no. 2013.0112.0204.
