In 1956 the firm introduced 'Australian Books in Print.' D.W. Thorpe was active in professional bodies such as the Associated Booksellers' of Australia and New Zealand, of which he was secretary from 1925-1949. His daughter, Joyce Nicholson, became Managing Director in 1968 and later sole owner. The firm was sold in 1987 to Macpherson's [sic] Pty Ltd, who later sold it to Reed Books.
