Plante in c.1920, acting as the local agent for English and American fur merchants. They supplied Australian fur skins - rabbit, possum and fox. Attempts to sell native animal skins such as kangaroo met with limited success. Their initial premises were at 395 Collins St, Melbourne; they then moved to 499 Lt Collins St. The firm was later managed by Thomas H. Plante, but it closed down in c.1940 due to increased insurance costs and reduced overseas demand occasioned by the War.
