Agent TypeOrganisationHistoryIn 1993 a government committee of MPs was appointed to develop and design a programme to create the Rail Trails of Victoria. Challenges included landowner resistance and the status of the land. By 1999 at least 20 trails had been officially designated. At 2010 Rail Trails in Victoria are contributing significant benefits to local economies and community health.
The government Rail Trails Committee comprised:Graeme Stoney MP (Chair); Andrew Brideson MP; Kim Wells MP; David Evans MP; David Treasure MP; Tony Plowman MP; Gary Spry MP; Alistair Brookes & Sue Halstead-Lyons, David Heale (Executive Officers); Di Rule (Admin Assistant)
The committee ran until it was disbanded in October 1999 with the change of government.
