From 1971 to 1980 he was Director of Finance CRA Ltd. In 1983 he was appointed Managing Director of CRA and Chief Executive in 1987. He was appointed Director of Comalco Ltd. in 1976 and Chairman in 1980. He is also a Director of Qld. Alumina Ltd., Bougainville Copper, Showa Industries (Japan) and AM&S. He is a member of the Business Council of Australia and the Australia-Japan Business Cooperation Executive Committtee.
