From 1961 Jock worked at the University of Melbourne becoming Associate Dean of the Economics Faculty. Andrew followed his family's political interests, becoming Secretary of the Labour History Society in 1969, and active in the anti-conscription movement.
He graduated in arts, history and geography at Melbourne University in 1973, and commenced a Masters at La Trobe University. In the late summer of 1972 he commenced work at the University of Melbourne Archives part time, becoming a full time member of staff with a responsibility for trade union and labour records from 1976 to 1982. He left to become a Senior Curator in Australian history at the National Museum in Canberra in 1982, but returned to Victoria as the Deputy Director of Human Studies at Museum Victoria in 1986. From 1993 to 1999, he was the Director of the Western Australian Museum. Throughout his career he has maintained an interest in collecting evidence of the Australian labour movement, of which the posters in this collection are an example.Search records of this agent
