In 1944 she married David Derham who was Professor of Jurisprudence at the University of Melbourne from 1951 to 1964 and Vice-Chancellor from 1968 to 1982. Lady Derham has been a member of numerous public and University committees including the Committee of Management of the Royal Children's Hospital (1964); Vice-President of Volunteer Services (1966-1979); President of the Women of the University fund (1976-1982) and President of the University of Melbourne Auxilaries (1976-1982).
