He had obtained first class honours in Natural Philosophy I, and on returning from war service he was admitted to first year Bachelor of Science under the C.R.T.S. in 1946. He graduated B.Sc. in April 1949, M.Sc. in December 1952, and PH.D. in the Department of Physiology in April 1959. He became Reader in Biophysics and later Reader in Biomedical Engineering.
